Gina Kirschenheiter: This Multifaceted Entrepreneur is Making Waves in OC

In the dynamic world of entertainment, few figures stand out as prominently as Gina Kirschenheiter, a television personality whose infectious personality and unfiltered authenticity have left an indelible mark. Known for her role as a full-time cast member on Bravo’s “The Real Housewives of Orange County,” Gina’s journey in the spotlight began in the show’s 13th season in July 2018. Hailing from Long Island, New York, she quickly became a fan favorite, credited with bringing a refreshing dose of “realness” back to the show.
In June 2023, she embarked on a new venture that showcases her versatility and engaging presence—her very own podcast, “Orange Country.” Teaming up with Grammy-winning Country songwriter and producer Shane McAnally, Gina explores an array of topics, from pop culture to the challenges of parenting. Released every Wednesday, the podcast is a testament to Gina’s ability to connect with listeners and bridge the gaps between diverse backgrounds through humor and heart.
Beyond the realm of entertainment, she is a co-founder of the skincare line CaraGala. The inspiration behind this venture lies in her personal journey of reclaiming skin confidence after making the move from New York to Orange County. CaraGala is more than a skincare line; it’s a platform designed to inspire women to radiate confidence. The thoughtfully formulated products boast highly effective ingredients, reflecting Gina’s commitment to empowering women in their skincare journeys.
She isn’t just a television personality and entrepreneur—she is also a licensed real estate agent. A crucial member of a top-rated real estate team in Orange County, Gina specializes in properties in Rancho Mission Viejo. Her foray into the real estate world showcases her expertise and versatility in various professional arenas.
In her personal life, she navigates the joys and challenges of being a mother to her three children and three bonus children. Her greatest joy lies in embracing the role of mom while navigating the unique landscape of OC alongside her long-time boyfriend, Travis Mullen. OCTM: What does your vacation style look like?
GK: When it’s just Travis and me, I prefer a low-key relaxing beach vacation. Sand on my toes, sun on my skin and a refreshing mocktail in my hand. These trips are for recharging our batteries and reconnecting. Vacationing with the kids is a whole other trip for us. The more planned excursions the better! We like to keep it moving and experience everything the landscape has to offer. Our most recent trip was to Nashville, TN. We shopped on Broadway for boots and hats, learned to line dance like real cowboys, learned how to make Nashville’s renowned GooGoo Clusters, spent a day at the lake and of course attended a concert!!
OCTM: Tell us your best or worst travel experience.
GK: My first year out of college, I wanted to travel and was broke like most kids straight out of college. I took a job as an international flight attendant and found myself in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. I went out during the day to explore and immerse myself in the culture. While at a market shopping, I felt something on my hip, looked down, and saw a hand in my pocket!!! I learned a big lesson that day about travel safety! Being pickpocketed in a foreign country is an experience you only want to have once! Ha!
OCTM: Where are your favorite spots to hit up in OC when you’re not working? When friends and family come to visit where do you take them?
GK: When friends and family come to visit, we take them on what we like to refer to as the Orange County tourist loop. This loop includes of course the beach! My favorite beaches are Crystal Cove in Newport Beach and Salt Creek Beach in Dana Point. We usually hit Disneyland because how can you not?! We also love to take visitors to “the top of the world” hike in Laguna Beach. The view is unreal and the hike itself is very doable even for a beginner so it’s a great place to take visiting friends. For a fancier night out we love to dine at Selanne Steak Tavern in Laguna Beach!
OCTM: What do you think your life would be like if you hadn’t moved to OC?
GK: It’s hard to imagine what my life would be like if I hadn’t moved to OC. I feel so privileged to live where I do and have the life that I have now. I think I would have still been happy in New York because a big part of my heart is there but I definitely wouldn’t have been as warm! Haha!
OCTM: Where is one country or culture you would like to explore or learn more about?
GK: I would love to do a month-long trip and spend two weeks in Italy learning more about my culture and heritage followed by two weeks in Ireland learning about Travis’s culture and heritage. I think it’s important to understand where we came from and celebrate our cultural differences.
OCTM: What are your go to travel items you must have on a trip?
GK: Must haves include: My CaraGala skin care products of course. They are already all travel size, so the work is done for you! A tabletop vanity mirror so I can do my makeup on the bed. I always travel with a designated fanny pack or separate bag just for my passport/ID and plane ticket. If it’s in my bag with everything else, I inevitably have a moment where I am panicking trying to find it and I’ve learned doing it this way alleviates that stress! I also always bring a plastic shopping bag to use as a trash bag on the plane (especially when I travel with the kids). It’s seriously so helpful!
OCTM: Where is your ideal destination for a local weekend getaway?
GK: The beauty about living in OC is that there is truly an endless amount of weekend getaway spots. My closest and quickest go-to spot is the Ritz Carlton in Laguna Niguel. But I also love Temecula, Monterey, Palm Springs and Big Bear!
OCTM: From reality TV to real estate, did you ever envision this would be where you would end up?
GK: Literally never! But I wouldn’t trade it for anything. OC is a magical place to live and raise children and getting to share my journey through life on television has been such a unique experience. I’ve been able to connect with so many people and have enjoyed every moment! (Well… most of the moments, ha!)
OCTM: What are your next big goals for next year?
GK: This year I will continue to build my real estate career and skin care business. Success brings movement and I want to travel and see it all!!!
